  INTRODUCTION TO REAL ESTATE FINANCE, INVESTMENTS & DEVELOPMENT
Course Description Understanding the concepts of real estate finance and investments is important for all careers related to real estate. It is also applicable for individuals who wish to better understand real estate for their own personal investment and financing decisions. This introductory course offers a prelude to a more comprehensive approach to the areas of real estate financial instruments, development, investment and acquisitions. 1The student will be exposed to REAL ESTATE FINANCE, including the various financial instruments necessary to finance shopping centers, office buildings and industrial buildings. 2THE REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS introduces the fundamentals of development, including land assemblage, land use, entitlements, design considerations, marketing, and leasing. 3REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT, VALUATION AND INCOME ANALYSIS familiarizes the student with concepts and measurements employed in quantitative real estate investment, valuation and income -property analysis. 4LEGAL ASPECTS OF REAL ESTATE provides the student with an understanding of the historical, foundational, and legal principles involving both commercial and residential real estate. Ethics, values and social responsibility will be promoted throughout this program. Note: Each of these topics will be addressed in greater detail as separate courses in subsequent offerings and will count as credit toward a Certificate in Real Estate Finance, Investments and Development.
